Brian Galvin (Veritas Prep)

Brian Galvin: One of the world’s few owners of both a 99th percentile GMAT score and an NBA championship ring, Brian would gladly help Charles Barkley (but not Karl Malone) achieve either. Upon graduation with a BBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, Brian embarked on a quest to fulfill his childhood dreams of athletic glory, working in sales and marketing capacities for the University of Michigan Athletic Department, NYC 2012 Olympic Bid Committee, and Detroit Pistons. After winning (and we use that term loosely) the 2004 NBA championship with the Pistons, Brian realized that he’d rather spend his weeknight winter evenings teaching his Veritas Prep GMAT students than watching another Pistons-Bucks regular season game, and he turned his sights toward making teaching his primary career.
While earning a Master’s degree in education from Michigan, Brian taught high school history in Metro Detroit – close enough to 8 Mile that he needed to rely on his rap battle skills to keep control of his classroom, and was invited to freestyle at the Shelter, the battle rap mecca that launched Eminem.
Seeking a more temperate climate to continue to train for marathons and other endurance sports, he moved to California to serve as Director of Academic Programs for Veritas Prep. The co-author of several of Veritas Prep’s GMAT lessons, Brian oversees the instructor and curriculum development operations for Veritas Prep, and continues to teach GMAT classes in Los Angeles and worldwide.

Okay, now many of you who already know about Brian may be thinking "why the hell has Tray posted this?", and the few who don't already know Brian may be thinking "why the hell has Tray posted this?" :)
Well, Brian was one of the two instructors (the other being David Newland) of the inaugural Veritas Prep GMAT Essentials course, which I have already posted about. I enjoyed the course so much, and because of the intimate nature of the course, I got to know Brian a little more - one hell of a guy.

I recently had the chance to catch up with Brian and will be posting the excerpts of our communication shortly.
